This is an exquisite vintage handwoven headdress from the town Aguacatán.
What makes this cinta really remarkable is its use of the notable small brocade designs on the entire surface of the cinta.
Often times, headdresses only feature colorful designs and patterns on the ends, as the middle section is seldom visible when worn.
The headdress is handwoven on a backstrap loom with cotton threads.

Measurements:  Width: 4"x Length 107" plus 5" of fringes on each side

Worry Dolls are tiny, hand-crafted dolls from Guatemala. The dolls are clothed in traditional Mayan costumes and stand one-half to 2 inches tall. Guatemalan artisans bind pieces of wood together or twist together short lengths of wire to create a frame and fashion a torso, legs, arms, and head. By winding cloth and yarn around the frame, the artisans give the doll shape. They use scraps of traditional woven fabric to make the doll costumes and wind more yarn to create the head, hair, feet and hands.

San Mateo Ixtatan is located in the highlands of Huehuetenango whre the weather is very cold. So this is the reason why Huipiles are so heavy; to maintain body warmth.
